Strategic EHS Leader / Director in Ruther Glen, VA, Job 1817
We are recruiting for a full-time Strategic EHS Leader / Director position for our manufacturing client in Ruther Glen, VA. The position requires being on-site in Ruther Glen, VA. Relocation assistance within the US is available. This is one of over 50 current EHS positions being recruited for nationwide.
What you will be doing:
In this role you will be leading the Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) function across all manufacturing operations for the organization. You will define the culture and establish the strategy, systems, protocols and accountabilities that result in strong employee engagement, compliance, and operational excellence. You will strategically balance costs and risk-return on necessary and desired EHS initiatives.
Minimum Requirements:
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without restrictions
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering
• 10 or more years of EHS leadership experience in manufacturing with demonstrated success in building and driving a change to the organization’s culture of safety.
• Demonstrated success in development of a team of professionals
• Demonstrated experience designing programs to mitigate exposures to noise, airborne particles and other IH exposures
• Demonstrated experience designing programs to mitigate programs driving safety metrics downward
• Demonstrated success managing multi-media environmental compliance programs
Additional Preferred Competencies:
• Professional Certification (CSP, CIH, COSS, MSP, CSD, etc.)
• Master’s Degree or MBA
Major Responsibilities:
• Act as the organization’s Subject Matter Expert on EHS matters
• Establish the strategic vision and tactical implementation
• Partner with Corporate and Regional Managers to establish and maintain a strong safety culture.
• Lead, mentor and develop the team of EHS Professionals
• Lead development and continuous improvement of EHS policies and procedures
• Develop, implement, and support all company safety programs, policies, and procedures and ensure they are effectively communicated to all employees.
• Ensure that all health, safety, and environmental programs are compliant with OSHA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Develop and oversee all metrics associated with safety performance
• Oversee all environmental related recordkeeping and administration to include assisting operations in compliance with permits, operating conditions, sampling, and other regulatory requirements.
• Conduct periodic audits/inspections and support Regional Managers to follow action plans ensuring prompt resolution of any identified EHS issues.
• Drive consistency and standardization of safety programs
• Develop and provide company-wide training to employees in accordance with environmental regulations, and company standards.
• Oversee insurance and workers’ compensation claims.
• Advise and oversee legal matters pertaining to incidents and accidents
• Prepare and present to the Senior Leadership Team on OS initiatives
• Advise and oversee incident investigations and reporting

Salary range: $150,000 to $200,000
